Welcome to the Student Mental Health Planning, Guidance and Training Manual.

This Manual has been produced under a HEFCE funded project at Lancaster University (2000 -2002) dedicated to the dissemination of good practice in supporting students with mental health difficulties.

Its purpose is to provide an accessible tool to as wide an audience as possible, principally within higher education institutions, drawing together basic information on student mental health issues and acting as a 'signposting tool' to relevant work and resources in this field.

The Manual includes:

Section 3. Supporting students experiencing mental health difficulties
Section 4. Supporting the supporters
Section 5. Training and awareness raising

Section 7. Appendix: further references and resources
Text of all sections is available in MS Word 97/2000 and PDF file formats.
